Our scarves are made by people - not factories or machines!
Recycled Silk Items
Bright and cheerful, our fairly traded hand spun silk yarn is made by a women's collective group in Nepal into a wide range of items - everything from scarves, hats, purses - even mitten! One group creates the handmade yarn while another group knits it into the products we offer.
A significant portion of our retail prices goes to the women directly and or goes to support assistance programs including educational grants to the weavers children. Called "rungy chungy" by our ladies, which translates as colorful, this yarn is homespun, and all the work is done at home, allowing the ladies to go about their daily chores and watch the children. To see the step-by-step process of how the yarn is made, view our page on how recycled silk sari yarns are made.
