What is soapstone? It’s not soap!
Soapstone is a natural metamorphic mineral/rock that is easy to carve. Soapstone is the common name for the mineral steatite. It is called soapstone because the talc components (along with other minerals) gives the stone a soft, smooth, soapy feel. Our soapstone is mined and carved in Kenya, Africa.
